Dominican Republic

For over a decade now, the once nearly uninhabited northeastern shore of the Dominican Republic, known as the Coconut Coast, has become a major holiday destination. Most developers have followed the same general plan, building grand luxury hotels on large properties at the edge of breathtaking and completely isolated beaches. Relaxation, the beach and outdoor activities are what attract vacationers to Punta Cana and the surrounding area.

The beaches of Coconut Coast are nothing short of delightful. Playa Macao, Playa Bavaro, Punta Cana, or the wild Playa Juanillo, are among the endless fine white-sand beaches surrounded by coconut trees. All at Playa Bavaro's and Punta Cana's hotel complexes face directly onto these stunningly beautiful beaches.

The big hotel complexes in Playa Macao, Playa Bavaro and Punta Cana all organize activities. Their prime locations mean that guests can enjoy scuba diving, snorkelling, sailing, windsurfing, horseback riding and many other sports, including tennis. There are two golf courses in the region; the well-groomed 18-hole course at the Hotel Bavaro is one of the most beautiful in the country, winding its way through a vast garden with ponds.
