In  May and September 2003 we spent time in Mexico City and were pleasantly surprised! Any guide book on the subject will lead you to believe that if you were not robbed or beat up on arrival,  then surely the choking pollution would get you next! Ok so we were robbed on the subway (not actually robbed just pockets very discreetly relieved of all their contents, which fortunately consisted only of the tourist card you are warned on fate of death not to lose) However I digress.  Mexico City is an amazing place, home to Latin America's largest church as well as some of the world's finest  architecture, museums, restaurants, and shopping! One of the must sees is the site of Teotihuacan, one of the most impressive cities of the ancient world once housing over 125,000 people and covering over 20 square kilometres before it was mysteriously abandoned around A.D 650.
